looking for cooperation in transwaters

Hi! I would like to do some research, publish a paper or an article on the topic of transwaters stemmed from theories of queer ecology and transecology.

Anyone interested to join?

I would like to explore the symmetries between water and queerness. Drawing on, for instance, the concept of naturecultures (Haraway, 2003; Bell, 2010), along with the theoretical perspectives of Queer Ecology (Sandilands, 2001, 2010; Gaard, 1997), Transecology (Hayward, 2024) and Trans waterlives (Hazard, 2024), I intend to examine the transformability and struggles of water and queerness beyond the binary. These challenge the white heteronormative hegemonies underpinning Western value systems (Butler, 1991; Hartsock, 1998).

In response to systemic marginalization, queer communities have long demonstrated resilience and adaptive strategies, often rooted in community-building and compassion (Loick, 2024; Joy et al., 2024; Feng, 2022). Resilience and transformation, however, are not merely a reaction to adversity but a proactive tool for constructing alternative futures (Greteman, 2021).

I seek to underscore the uncertainty of persistence, offering an argument that embraces the transformation of the known and values the historical becoming of (queer) objects (Ahmed, 2007) and waters (Sandilands, 2005; Hazard, 2022). Based on these theoretical elaborations, I can also present early insights from my explorative and experimental empirical research with queer environmental initiatives in Berlin, demonstrating how theoretical concepts can come to life through embodied experiences with water in transdisciplinary research..
